Cool Air. Calm Nature. Slow Moments. No Crowds.

Serene Nord guides you through the quiet Arctic beauty of Bodø in Northern Norway.

Why Bodø in Northern Norway

Northern Norway is where cool, clean air meets quiet landscapes, and Bodø offers some of the most peaceful of them all. It’s a place of dramatic contrasts, where jagged mountain peaks rise above turquoise beaches with crystal‑clear water, and still lakes mirror the sky. Here, the pace softens, the crowds fade, and the Arctic feels close enough to touch. As Bodø lies within the Arctic Circle, the northern lights often grace the sky from autumn to spring, adding a quiet magic to the dark nights.

Why choose Serene Nord

At Serene Nord, we keep our groups very small, with a maximum of four guests, so every experience feels personal and unhurried. We adapt each route to the weather, the light, and the comfort level of the group, making it easy for anyone to join without needing high physical effort. With deep local knowledge of Bodø’s quieter places, far beyond the well‑known viewpoints, we focus on silence, space, and nature at its most authentic. And because we speak several languages (English, Norwegian, Indonesian, Chinese, and some Korean) and understand different cultures, guests from around the world feel immediately at home and understood. Sustainability is equally important to us. We keep the groups small so we can blend in and move as the locals do, visiting hidden gems without creating new trails that can add pressure to the environment. We leave the place exactly as we find it, or even better. During our foraging experience, we take only a little of everything, by hand, to help sustain the abundance for wildlife and local foragers. We use an environmentally friendly vehicle, and we support small local businesses by visiting museums and local cafés when they are open.

Frequently Asked Questions

Bodø is a coastal town in Northern Norway, just north of the Arctic Circle. It’s the second‑largest town in the region and known as the gateway to Lofoten. You can reach Bodø by direct flights from Oslo and other Norwegian cities, by train, bus, ferry, or the Hurtigruten Norwegian Coastal Express. From 2026, a few direct international routes are also available.

The best time to visit Bodø depends on the atmosphere you want to experience. For endless daylight, late May to early August offers 24‑hour brightness, with the midnight sun visible from mid‑June to mid‑July. For northern lights, the season runs from September to early April, with the strongest chances during the darker months. Snowy landscapes are increasingly unpredictable, but winter conditions with soft Arctic colors typically appear sometime between late October and late March.

Layers and waterproof clothing are recommended in every season. In summer, bring a thin down jacket, a wool or fleece layer, long johns, and waterproof outerwear. Waterproof trail‑running or hiking shoes work best; regular sneakers, high heels, and sandals are not suitable for the terrain. Autumn and spring are colder, so slightly thicker layers are helpful. In winter, especially for northern lights outings, wear a warm down jacket with a wind and waterproof shell, insulated pants, wool jumpers, and wool long johns and socks. Waterproof winter boots are essential, and ice cleats (shoe spikes) are highly recommended. Just remember to remove them indoors or in vehicles.

We use a seven‑seater, environmentally friendly vehicle that blends in locally and avoids any mass‑tourism feel. The last two seats are smaller and less comfortable for adults, so we take a maximum of four guests to ensure space and comfort. To run the trip, we require a minimum of two participants. For private trips, group size can be adjusted.

Yes, absolutely. We welcome solo travellers, and you may join up to three other guests. Trips require a minimum of two participants to run, so if you book alone, we will confirm the departure as soon as another guest joins.

Our trips are designed for a calm and quiet atmosphere, so they are best suited for adults aged 18 and above. Families with children are welcome to book private trips; please contact us in advance so we can arrange the required child seats. Dogs are also welcome on private trips, just let us know beforehand so we can prepare the soft transport crate, which fits one large dog or up to two medium‑sized dogs.

Both the northern lights and wildlife are completely natural, so sightings can never be guaranteed. We will always do our best to search for them. For the northern lights, visibility depends on clear skies and solar activity, so the only thing we can control is driving to areas with the best weather conditions. For wildlife, we know the places they often appear, but their presence varies with the seasons.

If weather conditions are extremely unfavourable or unsafe, we will cancel the trip and refund your booking. For day trips, depending on the conditions, we may still be able to experience the storm from a safe distance, which can be quite an impressive sight in Bodø.

The meeting point is the entrance of Radisson Blu Hotel in the city center of Bodø (Storgata 2), opposite the main entrance of the city library, Stormen. If you are staying in a hotel in the city center, it is within walking distance. For private trips, we can customise the pick‑up point as long as it is within the Bodø area.

Our trips are suitable for most guests, as long as you are comfortable walking short distances on gentle, mostly flat terrain. The total walking distance is usually under 3 km for the entire trip, spread across several stops with small walks at each location. Comfortable, waterproof footwear is highly recommended.
