Arctic Berry and Mushroom Foraging
Explore the subtle abundance of Arctic berries and mushrooms, tasting cloudberries when nature allows. What you find depends on season, weather, and the quiet rhythm of the northern landscape.
Step into the quiet richness of the Arctic summer and autumn, learning about unique northern berries, and tasting cloudberries when nature allows. With your guide, explore safe, hidden spots where edible mushrooms grow, gathering them gently in the shifting colours of the landscape. Fresh air, warm drinks, and traditional snacks accompany the slow rhythm of the day. All berries and mushrooms appear naturally, so what you find depends on season, weather, and nature’s own cycle. Everything you pick is tasted only together with your guide, ensuring safety and care throughout the experience. We harvest lightly and respectfully, taking only small amounts so the landscape remains healthy and abundant for wildlife and future foragers.
What to expect
We drive to different foraging spots, with the option to pause at scenic viewpoints for a lunch break. Please bring your own food, as lunch is not included. We walk through quiet forest areas, learning about Arctic berries and edible mushrooms along the way. In summer, we may taste the Arctic specialty — cloudberries — and golden chanterelles often hide among berry bushes or soft moss.
From late summer into autumn, blueberries, crowberries, wild strawberries, and a variety of mushrooms become plentiful. As the season progresses toward late autumn, bright red lingonberries and funnel chanterelles can still be found until the first frost arrives.
We pause often to absorb the atmosphere, enrich your senses, and enjoy the slow pace of the experience. Foraging is done gently and in small amounts, with a focus on sustainability and leaving the landscape as we found it. If we gather enough mushrooms, we may cook a small portion on the spot and taste them together. If not, warm drinks and traditional snacks are available.
Your guide will take photos throughout the day, giving you meaningful memories to bring home. This experience is designed for adults seeking quiet, serene moments in the Arctic, with a passion for berries and mushrooms.
Important: Never pick or consume any berries or mushrooms on your own unless you are completely certain they are safe.
